Jonathan M. Slawinski BA (Hons)
Criminal Defence Solicitor Advocate
Jonathan qualified as a Solicitor in 1995. He is a Duty Solicitor and has obtained his Higher Rights meaning that he can represent clients from the Police Station right through to the Court of Appeal. He regularly represents clients at the Police Station and Magistrates Court. His areas of work include; Serious Crime – Homicide, Sexual Offences, Drugs Offences, Fraud, Benefit Fraud and Road Traffic Defence. Jonathan is a member of the Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme.
Sonia Kidd BSc (Hons)
Criminal Defence Solicitor Advocate
Sonia qualified as a Solicitor in 2003. She is a Duty Solicitor and has obtained her Higher Rights meaning that she can represent clients from the Police Station right through to the Court of Appeal. She regularly represents clients at the Police Station and Magistrates Court. Her areas of work include; Serious Crime – Homicide, Sexual Offences, Drugs Offences, Fraud, Benefit Fraud and Road Traffic Defence. Sonia is a member of the Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme.
Nazaim Hussain LLB (Hons)
Director
Nazaim joined the firm in 1999, he now heads the Crown Court Department and manages the complex case load that follows with a busy Criminal Practice. He specialises in Proceeds of Crime Cases and routinely takes instructions from clients both in the office and at prison to enable their cases to be prepared effectively. He closely liaises with in house Counsel and Barristers in their chambers in the preparation of cases ranging from theft, violent crime, sexual offences, drugs, fraud, proceeds of crime and murder. His ability to speak Urdu and Punjabi is of added benefit to the firm.
Anastasis Tasou BA (Hons)
Barrister
Anastasis qualified in 1998 and achieved his Higher Rights of Audience in 2001. He has practised exclusively in the field of criminal defence and has specialised in trials at the Crown Court since 2001. He deals with all types of cases but concentrates on serious offences and has achieved a high success rate over the years. Anastasis has regularly appeared before the Court of Appeal and a number of his cases have been reported in legal journals. In 2022, Anastasis qualified as a Barrister and transfered to the bar and is now a Tenant at Park Square Barristers but remains a Consultant with Carr and Co.
Erica Topham (Hons)
Senior Solicitor
Erica qualified as a solicitor in 2004. She is a Duty Solicitor and has acquired her Higher Rights which means that she can represent clients from the Police Station through to the Court of Appeal. She regularly appears at the Police Station and Magistrates Court. Her areas of work include Serious Crime – Homicide, Sexual Offences, Drugs Offences through to Supply/Importation, Infringement of Trading Standards, Fraud, Benefit Fraud and Road Traffic Defence. Erica is a member of the Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme. Erica joined the firm in May 2019 having been a Sole Practitioner managing her own case load and client base around West and North Yorkshire. She strengthens the team at Carr and Co and brings with her a wide range of experience.
Aysha Rafiq LLB (Hons)
Solicitor
Aysha qualified as a solicitor in 2017. She is a Duty Solicitor and regularly represents clients at the Police Station and Magistrates Courts. Aysha joined the practice in May 2023 and is a welcome addition to the team. She can speak Punjabi which is an added benefit. Her areas of work include serious assault, sexual offences, drugs offences, dishonesty matters, road traffic offences and all other areas of Criminal Law.
Imaan Hussain
Trainee Solicitor
Imaan is a Trainee Solicitor who is currently working in our Crown Court Department, having joined the firm in September 2023. She has since accumulated experience in working on complex criminal cases which includes taking instructions from clients, analysing evidence, preparing cases for trial and assisting counsel during conferences and at Trial.
Imaan studied LLB Law (Hons) at the University of Huddersfield and graduated with a First Class in 2023. She is now completing the Level 7 Graduate Solicitors Apprenticeship which will lead to her qualifying as a solicitor.’
